Leave the flowers you have obtained,

and take the noble maiden from the florist's hand.

A beauty whose counterparts they have entwined for her

into a crown—and they are daughters of dawn.

upon a journey—and the soul finds delight in travel.

    who governs destinies throughout existence.

are generous in public and in private.

They attend you both, though they are those

whom the great themselves attend out of reverence.

with children's purity and elders' gentleness.

And they surround you on your way, in honor

and reverence for you, with swaying lances.

And they crown you with interlaced spearheads,

like a canopy fashioned from light.

This is the home where you have settled,

and those illustrious men are its people.

youth's resolve for one whose footsteps falter.

And survey those temples, and ask

the echo within them about the secrets that lie silent.

You will see the gods, the kings, and every man of

learning, and every seasoned, mighty man,

    moving as their shadows shift,

as though they had leapt from the stones.

And when they smile at you, and

    their faces gleam with gladness,

let the dust of shame become their garb.

those beauties, the enchantment of beholders,

you will find them clothed, over their decay,

    in gilded robes of light.
