مُبْتسِماًsmiling وَالجَوِّwhile the sky بَاكٍweeping عَبُوسْgrim
Its smoke keeps me company, dancing,
Its smoke comforts me dancing,
Smiling, while the sky is tearful and grim.
Smiling while the weather frowns gloomily.
آناًone moment أَرَاهُI see it كالوِشَاحِlike a scarf انْطَوَىfolded up
ثُمَّthen أَرَاهُI see it شِبْهَlike تَاجِcrown العَرُوسthe bride
One moment I see it folded like a scarf;
At times I see it coiling like a scarf,
Then I see it like the bride's crown.
At others like a bride's tiara.

It bears what cannot be borne
It bears what the smell of meadows fails to bear
By lofty mountains—the cares of souls.
Of the sorrows of souls.
