مِثَالِيَmy likeness أُهْدِيهِI offer it إِلىto مَنْthe one whom أُحِبّهُI love him
وَلِيand I have فِيهِin it قَلْبٌa heart خَافِقbeating وَسَرَائِرُand hidden thoughts
I offer my likeness to the one I love.
My ideal I present to the one I love
And in it I have a beating heart and hidden thoughts.
In it lies a fluttering heart and innermost secrets
إِذاif فَرَّقْتَparts بَيْنِيbetween me وَبَيْنَهُمُand between them النَّوَىdistance
فَإِنِّيthen indeed I بِعَيْنَيْهِthrough its two eyes إِلَيْهِمْtoward them لَنَاظِرُsurely gazing
If distance parts me from them,
If you separate me from them by distance
then through its eyes I shall surely gaze toward them.
With my eyes I still look upon them
