How do I fare, I the debtor, when my debt

    Exceeds what I can repay

To the companions who raised my standing,

From among the great writers and poets,

And the noble souls whom people seek out,

Yet who came forward out of graciousness and generosity?

O minister, whose merit leaves him no need

    For any praise or acclaim,

And who set eloquence and learning at the summit

Where he himself has taken his place on high.

You have honored me; may you be honored by the Lord

Of the Throne. This is my thanks, and this my prayer.
