يعييdefeats بيانthe eloquence الواصفthe describer المجوادthe lavish
يعيي بيان الواصف المجواد
Who can describe her beauty for me, when her beauty
Who can describe its beauty and its beauty
Defies the eloquence of the lavish describer?
Exhausting the eloquence of the most eloquent poet

Wonders of ornament, whose splendor is perfected
Signs of embroidery completed
By the rivers' shimmering among the mountain spurs.
By the glitter of rivers on meadows
ويكادand almost بحرa sea الآلthe mirage فيat أطرافهاher outskirts
ويكاد بحر الآل في أطرافها
يشجوenchants السماعthe hearing بموجهwith its waves الهدادroaring
يشجو السماع بموجه الهداد
And the sea of mirage at her outskirts almost
And the sea of progeny on its edges
Enchants the ear with its roaring waves,
Laments to the listening with its roaring waves
حتىuntil يصيرcomes مدىthe extent محاسنهاher charms إلىto
حتى يصير مدى محاسنها إلى
سفحa mountain slope يطوقهاencircles her بطوقwith a collar جسادsaffron dye
سفح يطوقها بطوق جساد
Until the sweep of her charms extends to
Until the extent of its beauties reaches
A mountainside encircling her with a saffron-dyed collar,
A foothill encircled by a belt of bodies
عالhigh ذراهits summits يلوحgleams فوقabove بياضهاtheir whiteness
عال ذراه يلوح فوق بياضها
جمرembers الغمائمthe clouds منfrom خلالthe midst of رمادash
جمر الغمائم من خلال رماد
Its summits high; above their whiteness gleam
Lofty in its sight gleaming above its whiteness
The clouds' embers through ash.
