لِدُنُوِّيbecause of my drawing near مِنَto الضَّريِحِthe tomb الْمُفَدَّىcherished
Here awe takes possession of my heart
As I draw near the ransomed tomb
As I draw near the cherished tomb.
Of life from that grave set free
هَهُنَاhere أَشْعُرُI feel الشُّعُورَthe feeling كَبِيراًgreat
بِحَيَاةٍof life مِنْfrom ذَلِكَthat الْقَبْرِthe grave تهْدَىis bestowed
Here I feel a profound sense
Indeed a grave where Christ lay hid
Of life bestowed from that grave.
Became a cradle of light and leading
إِنَّindeed لَحْداًa tomb فِيهِin it الْمَسِيحُChrist تَوَارَىlay hidden
صَارَbecame لِلْنُّورِfor light وَالهِدايَةِand guidance مَهْدَاa cradle
Indeed, a tomb in which Christ lay hidden
A bird charmed by the lamp's light
Has become a cradle for light and guidance.

A bird was fooled by the light of the lamp—
The electric one—and so it sang at night.
