إِنْif تُكْرِمُوهُyou honor him تُكْرِمُواyou honor أَوْطَانكمْyour homelands
إِنْ تُكْرِمُوهُ تُكْرِمُوا أَوْطَانكمْ
فِيin أَمْجَدِthe most illustrious of البَانِينَthe builders لِلأَوْطَانِfor homelands
فِي أَمْجَدِ البَانِينَ لِلأَوْطَانِ
If you honor him, you honor your homelands,
In the most illustrious builder of homelands,
فِيin خَيْرِthe best of مَنْthose who رَفَعَremoved الضَّلالَةَerror بِالهُدَىthrough guidance
فِي خَيْرِ مَنْ رَفَعَ الضَّلالَةَ بِالهُدَى
عَنْfrom قَوْمِهِhis people وَالجَهْلَand ignorance بِالعِرْفَانِthrough knowledge
عَنْ قَوْمِهِ وَالجَهْلَ بِالعِرْفَانِ
In the best of those who dispelled error through guidance
From his people, and ignorance through knowledge.
رَبَّىhe nurtured وَعَلَّمَand taught مُنْشِئاًcreating وَمُدَرِّساًand instructing
رَبَّى وَعَلَّمَ مُنْشِئاً وَمُدَرِّساً
وَمُهَيِّئاًand preparing وَمُؤَسِّساًand founding فِيat آنِone time
وَمُهَيِّئاً وَمُؤَسِّساً فِي آنِ
He nurtured and taught, creating and instructing,
And preparing and founding, all at once.
فَإِذَاthen behold البِلادُthe land بِمُزْهِرَاتِwith the blossoms of عُلُومِهَاits sciences
فَإِذَا البِلادُ بِمُزْهِرَاتِ عُلُومِهَا
وَبِمُثْمِرَاتِand with the fruits of حُلُومِهَاits wisdom كَجِنَانِlike gardens
وَبِمُثْمِرَاتِ حُلُومِهَا كَجِنَانِ
Then behold, the land, with the blossoms of its sciences
And the fruits of its wisdom, is like gardens.
حَسْبُenough المَفَاخِرِthe glorious achievements أَنْthat يَقُولَshould say شَهِيدُهَاtheir witness
حَسْبُ المَفَاخِرِ أَنْ يَقُولَ شَهِيدُهَا
هَذِيthese الغِرَاسُthe plantings لِبُطْرسَbelong to Butrus البُسْتَانِيal-Bustani
هَذِي الغِرَاسُ لِبُطْرسَ البُسْتَانِي
For these glorious achievements, it is enough that their witness say:
"These plantings belong to Butrus al-Bustani."
