جَاءَوا وَكَانُوا أَرْبَعَهْ

جَاءَوا وَكَانُوا أَرْبَعَهْ

كَمَا تُهِب الزَّوْبَعَهْ

كَمَا تُهِب الزَّوْبَعَهْ

They came, and they were four,

as a whirlwind blows.

دَارَتْ بِهِمْ وَمَا دَرَوا

دَارَتْ بِهِمْ وَمَا دَرَوا

دَائِرَةٌ مُسَبَّعهْ

دَائِرَةٌ مُسَبَّعهْ

Around them turned, though they knew it not,

a sevenfold circle.

وَافَوا إِلَى سَاحَةِ جُوْ

وَافَوا إِلَى سَاحَةِ جُوْ

دٍ نَزَلُوهَا عَنْ سِعَهْ

دٍ نَزَلُوهَا عَنْ سِعَهْ

They came to a courtyard of bounty,

where they lodged in spacious ease.

لاقَوا بِهَا مَا سَرَّهُمْ

لاقَوا بِهَا مَا سَرَّهُمْ

مِنْ رِقَّةٍ وَمِنْ دِعَهْ

مِنْ رِقَّةٍ وَمِنْ دِعَهْ

They found there what pleased them:

gentleness and ease,

وَمِنْ جَمَالٍ وَكَمَالٍ

وَمِنْ جَمَالٍ وَكَمَالٍ

جَلَّ رَبٌّ أَبْدَعَهْ

جَلَّ رَبٌّ أَبْدَعَهْ

and beauty and perfection—

exalted be the Lord who fashioned it!

وَمَنْ حَدِيثٍ مطرب

وَمَنْ حَدِيثٍ مطرب

فَازَ بِهِ مَنْ سَمِعَهْ

فَازَ بِهِ مَنْ سَمِعَهْ

And delightful conversation,

by which whoever heard it profited.

وَازْدَرَدُوا مَا ازْدَرَدُوا

وَازْدَرَدُوا مَا ازْدَرَدُوا

مِنْ أَكَلاتٍ مُشْبَعَهْ

مِنْ أَكَلاتٍ مُشْبَعَهْ

And they gobbled down what they gobbled down

of filling dishes,

وَشَرِبُوا مَا شَرِبُوا

وَشَرِبُوا مَا شَرِبُوا

مِنْ خَمْرَةٍ وَمِنْ جِعَهْ

مِنْ خَمْرَةٍ وَمِنْ جِعَهْ

and drank what they drank

of wine and beer.

وَذَكَرُوا مَنْ غَابَ عَنْ

وَذَكَرُوا مَنْ غَابَ عَنْ

حِمَاهُ وَالقَلْبُ مَعهْ

حِمَاهُ وَالقَلْبُ مَعهْ

And they remembered the one absent from

his home, while their hearts were with him,

دَاعِينَ للهِ بِأَنْ

دَاعِينَ للهِ بِأَنْ

يَشْفِيَهُ وَيُرْجِعَهْ

يَشْفِيَهُ وَيُرْجِعَهْ

praying to God that

He might heal him and bring him back.
