فِيin بَيْتِthe house of إِلْيَاسِElias المُدَوَّرِal-Mudawwar جُدِّدَتْwere renewed
فِي بَيْتِ إِلْيَاسِ المُدَوَّرِ جُدِّدَتْ
لِلْسَعْدِof happiness آيَاتٌsigns دُثِرْنَhad been effaced دُثُورَاutterly
لِلْسَعْدِ آيَاتٌ دُثِرْنَ دُثُورَا
In Elias al-Mudawwar's house were renewed
Signs of happiness that had been utterly effaced.
يَاO آلَهُhis family لَكُمُyours الْهَنَاءُhappiness بِعَوْدِهَاat their return
يَا آلَهُ لَكُمُ الْهَنَاءُ بِعَوْدِهَا
اليَوْمَtoday نَغْفِرُwe forgive لِلزَمَانِTime كَثِيرَاmuch
اليَوْمَ نَغْفِرُ لِلزَمَانِ كَثِيرَا
O his family, joy be yours at their return!
Today we forgive Time much.
جَبَرَmended الْمُسِيءُthe wrongdoer إِلىagainst الْمَسَرَّةِjoy وَالتُّقَىand piety
جَبَرَ الْمُسِيءُ إِلى الْمَسَرَّةِ وَالتُّقَى
قَلْباًa heart لِوَالِدَةٍof a mother ثَنَاهُhe had bent it كسِيرَاbroken
قَلْباً لِوَالِدَةٍ ثَنَاهُ كسِيرَا
He who wronged joy and piety has mended
A mother's heart he had bent and broken.
فَحُبُورُهَاfor her joy بِقِرَانِat the marriage of أَكْبَرِthe eldest of وُلْدِهَاher children
فَحُبُورُهَا بِقِرَانِ أَكْبَرِ وُلْدِهَا
رَدَّrestored النُّفوسَthe spirits وَقدْand already مُلِئنَthey were filled حُبُورَاwith gladness
رَدَّ النُّفوسَ وَقدْ مُلِئنَ حُبُورَا
For her joy at her eldest child's marriage
Has restored spirits, now filled with gladness.
عُرْسٌa wedding لَهُit has فِيin كُلِّevery مُجْتَمَعٍgathering صَدىan echo
عُرْسٌ لَهُ فِي كُلِّ مُجْتَمَعٍ صَدى
وَبِهِand through it تَجَاوَبَتِresounded in response الْبِلادُthe lands سُرُورَاwith joy
وَبِهِ تَجَاوَبَتِ الْبِلادُ سُرُورَا
A wedding whose echo is heard in every gathering,
And through it the lands resounded with joy.
وَفَضَائِلُand the virtues of الأُسْرَاتِfamilies فِيin أَقْوَالِهَاtheir words
وَفَضَائِلُ الأُسْرَاتِ فِي أَقْوَالِهَا
أَبَداًalways تُؤْثِّرُproduce ذلِكthat التَّأثِيرَاeffect
أَبَداً تُؤْثِّرُ ذلِك التَّأثِيرَا
And the virtues of families, in their words,
Always have that very effect.
يَاO أَيُّهاyou الزَّوْجَانِwedded pair عِيْشَاlive, both of you وَافْرَحَاand rejoice, both of you
يَا أَيُّها الزَّوْجَانِ عِيْشَا وَافْرَحَا
وَتَمَلَّيَاand savor, both of you أُنْسَthe companionship of الْحَيَاةِlife وَفِيرَاabundant
وَتَمَلَّيَا أُنْسَ الْحَيَاةِ وَفِيرَا
O wedded pair, live and rejoice,
And savor life's companionship in abundance.
وَلْيَسْتَدِمْand may it endure بَيْنَكُمَاbetween you two الْمَجْدُglory الَّذِيthat
وَلْيَسْتَدِمْ بَيْنَكُمَا الْمَجْدُ الَّذِي
يَزْدَادُincreases مَاas انْطَوتِfold away السُّنُونُthe years نُشُورَاin spread
يَزْدَادُ مَا انْطَوتِ السُّنُونُ نُشُورَا
And may there endure between you the glory that
Spreads ever farther as the years fold away.
