يَاO آلَfamily of بَرْنُوطِيBarnouti تَحِيَّةَa greeting صَاحِبٍa friend
يَا آلَ بَرْنُوطِي تَحِيَّةَ صَاحِبٍ
فِيin وِدِّهِّhis affection لَكُمُfor you المَكَانُthe place العَالِيexalted
فِي وِدِّهِّ لَكُمُ المَكَانُ العَالِي
O family of Barnouti, greetings from a friend
in whose affection you hold an exalted place.
إِنِّيindeed I أُهَنِيءُcongratulate بِالقِرَانِon the marriage حَبِيبَكُمْyour beloved
إِنِّي أُهَنِيءُ بِالقِرَانِ حَبِيبَكُمْ
زَيْنَthe adornment of الشَّبَابِyouth النَّادِرِrare الأْمثَالِequals
زَيْنَ الشَّبَابِ النَّادِرِ الأْمثَالِ
I congratulate your beloved on his marriage,
the adornment of youth, whose equals are rare.
وابْشِرِand I bring glad tidings to البِكْرَthe maiden الَّتِيwho صَارَتْhas become لَهُhis
وابْشِرِ البِكْرَ الَّتِي صَارَتْ لَهُ
أَهْلاًa wife بِعَيْشِof a life of رَفَاهَةٍease وَكَمَالِand fulfillment
أَهْلاً بِعَيْشِ رَفَاهَةٍ وَكَمَالِ
And I bring glad tidings to the maiden who has become his
wife, of a life of ease and fulfillment.
حَسْنَاءُa beautiful woman فِيهَاin her النَّبْعَتَانِthe two ancestral stems تَرَاءَتَاboth appeared
حَسْنَاءُ فِيهَا النَّبْعَتَانِ تَرَاءَتَا
حِسّاًin bodily form وَمَعْنىًand in spirit فِيin مِثَالِa model of جَمَالِbeauty
حِسّاً وَمَعْنىً فِي مِثَالِ جَمَالِ
A beauty in whom the two ancestral stems appear,
in body and spirit, as a paragon of beauty.
فَلْيَسْعَدَاso may they both be happy وَلْيَنْجُبَاand may they both have children وَلْيَغْنَمَاand may they both reap
فَلْيَسْعَدَا وَلْيَنْجُبَا وَلْيَغْنَمَا
نِعَمَthe blessings of الوُجُودِexistence مَدَىthroughout سِنِينَyears طِوَالِlong
نِعَمَ الوُجُودِ مَدَى سِنِينَ طِوَالِ
So may they both be happy, have children, and reap
the blessings of existence through long years.
