عِشْlive ياO فَرِيداًFarid فِيamong شَبَابِthe youths of الحِمَىthe homeland
عِشْ يا فَرِيداً فِي شَبَابِ الحِمَى
وَدُمْand remain حَمِيداًpraiseworthy عَالِيَhigh in القَدْرِesteem
وَدُمْ حَمِيداً عَالِيَ القَدْرِ
Live, O Farid, among the homeland's youth,
Live uniquely in the spring of glory,
and remain praiseworthy, exalted in esteem.
With praiseworthy blood of high value.
وَلْيَحْمِيَand may protect رَهْطٌa band of kinsmen فِيin فريدِFarid العُلىlofty glory
وَلْيَحْمِيَ رَهْطٌ فِي فريدِ العُلى
يَحْكِيكَresembles you مِنْfrom among إِخْوَتِكَyour brothers الزَّهْرِthe radiant
يَحْكِيكَ مِنْ إِخْوَتِكَ الزَّهْرِ
And may a band stand guard in Farid's lofty glory,
Let a group be protected in the unique most high,
resembling you, from among your radiant brothers.
Who describe you as the best of your brothers.
إِنْif تَسْتَوَوْاyou all are equal خُلُقاًin character وَخَلْقاًand in physical form أَمَاis it not?
إِنْ تَسْتَوَوْا خُلُقاً وَخَلْقاً أَمَا
لِلْمُجِدِّfor the diligent one فِيكُمْamong you أَظْهَرُthe clearest السِّرِّsecret
لِلْمُجِدِّ فِيكُمْ أَظْهَرُ السِّرِّ
If you are alike in character and form, does not
If you are equal in morals and ethics,
the diligent one among you possess the clearest secret?
The most prominent secret is for the glorious among you.
الأُمُّthe mother شَمْسٌa sun وَالثَّرَيَّاand the Pleiades لَكُمْto you
الأُمُّ شَمْسٌ وَالثَّرَيَّا لَكُمْ
أُخْتٌa sister وَمَاand not مِنْكُمْamong you سِوىother than بَدْرِa full moon
أُخْتٌ وَمَا مِنْكُمْ سِوى بَدْرِ
The mother is a sun, and the Pleiades are your
The mother is a sun, and the Pleiades are for you
sister; none of you is anything but a full moon.
A sister, and none among you but the full moon.
وَالْخَالُand the maternal uncle ضَوْءُthe light of الْخَيْرِgoodness نَوْءُa rain-bringing star النَّدَىbounty
وَالْخَالُ ضَوْءُ الْخَيْرِ نَوْءُ النَّدَى
فِيin فَلَكِthe orbit of الِعزَّةِhonor وَالفَخْرِand pride
فِي فَلَكِ الِعزَّةِ وَالفَخْرِ
And your maternal uncle is the light of goodness, the rain-star of bounty,
The uncle is the light of good, the sign of dew,
in the orbit of honor and pride.
In the orbit of glory and pride.
فَيَاso O فَتَىyoung man الْفِتْيَانِthe young men بِالصِّدْقِfor truthfulness فِيin
فَيَا فَتَى الْفِتْيَانِ بِالصِّدْقِ فِي
أَخْلاقِهِhis character وَالرِّفْقِand gentleness وَالْبِرِّand righteousness
أَخْلاقِهِ وَالرِّفْقِ وَالْبِرِّ
So, O foremost of youths, for truthfulness in
So O youth of youth in truth
his character, for gentleness and righteousness,
In his morals, kindness and righteousness,
سَلِيلُscion بَيْتٍa house أَصْلُهُits root ثَابِتٌfirm
سَلِيلُ بَيْتٍ أَصْلُهُ ثَابِتٌ
وَفَرْعُهُand its branch فِيin مَطْلَعِthe rising place of النَّسْرِthe Eagle
وَفَرْعُهُ فِي مَطْلَعِ النَّسْرِ
scion of a house whose root stands firm,
Scion of a house whose origin is steadfast
and whose branch is where the Eagle rises:
And its branch at the rise of the eagle.
هَذِيthis عَرُوسُa bride قُرْبُهَاher nearness نِعْمَةٌa blessing
هَذِي عَرُوسُ قُرْبُهَا نِعْمَةٌ
سَابِغَةٌabundant تُجْدَرُis deemed worthy بِالشُّكْرِof gratitude
سَابِغَةٌ تُجْدَرُ بِالشُّكْرِ
here is a bride whose nearness is a blessing,
This bride‚ her kinship is a perfect blessing‚
abundant and deserving of gratitude,
Abundant‚ deserving of gratitude‚
مِنْfrom آلِthe family of شَكُّوِرShakkur الْكِرَامِthe noble الأُولىwho
مِنْ آلِ شَكُّوِر الْكِرَامِ الأُولى
هُمْthey نُخْبَةٌan elite فِيamong النُّخَبِthe elites الغُّرِّthe illustrious
هُمْ نُخْبَةٌ فِي النُّخَبِ الغُّرِّ
from the noble Shakkur family, who
From the generous honored family of Shakkour‚
are the elite among the illustrious elite.
They are the elite of the elite Ghurr.
تَوَافَقَتْshe matched بِالنُّبْلِin nobility رُوْحاًin spirit كَمَاas also
تَوَافَقَتْ بِالنُّبْلِ رُوْحاً كَمَا
وَبِمَزَايَاand in the virtues of الخُلُقِcharacter الْحُرِّthe noble
وَبِمَزَايَا الخُلُقِ الْحُرِّ
She matches you in nobility of spirit, as also
They matched in spirit with nobility‚
in the virtues of a noble character.
and with the manners of the free.
وَمَنَحَand bestowed اللّهُGod الْمُبْدِعُthe Creator وَجْهَيْكُمَاthe faces of you both
وَمَنَحَ اللّهُ الْمُبْدِعُ وَجْهَيْكُمَا
تَشابُهاًa resemblance بِالْحُسْنِin beauty وَالْبِشْرِand good cheer
تَشابُهاً بِالْحُسْنِ وَالْبِشْرِ
And God, the Creator, has bestowed on your two faces
And God‚ the Originator‚ gave beauty to both your faces‚
a likeness in beauty and good cheer.
Resemblance in beauty and cheer.
فَليَعْمَرِso may it flourish البَيتُthe house الَّذيwhich شِدْتُماyou both built
فَليَعْمَرِ البَيتُ الَّذي شِدْتُما
ولتَسْعَداand may you both be happy أَقْصَىthe utmost مَدَىspan of العُمْرِlife
ولتَسْعَدا أَقْصَى مَدَى العُمْرِ
So may the house you two have built flourish,
So may the house you tied together live long‚
and may you both be happy to the very end of life.
and may you attain the furthest extent of life!
