بَدَتْappeared لَكَto you فِيin رَوْضَةٍa garden وَرْدَةٌa rose
بَدَتْ لَكَ فِي رَوْضَةٍ وَرْدَةٌ
وَأَنْتَand you جَنَيْتَyou plucked وَنِعْمَand how fine الجَّنَىthe harvest
وَأَنْتَ جَنَيْتَ وَنِعْمَ الجَّنَى
A rose appeared to you in a garden.
A rose appeared to you in a garden
And you plucked it—what a fine harvest!
And you picked it - what a fine harvest!
بَلَغْتَyou attained أحَبَّthe dearest of المُنَىwishes فِيin الحَيَاةِlife
بَلَغْتَ أحَبَّ المُنَى فِي الحَيَاةِ
وَإنَّand indeed الحَيَاةَlife جَمِيعاًin its entirety مُنَىwishes
وَإنَّ الحَيَاةَ جَمِيعاً مُنَى
You attained the dearest of wishes in life.
You have attained the most beloved goal in life
And indeed, life is all wishes.
Yet all of life is but a goal
