The shame of injustice falls upon whoever commits it.

And the unjust man's judgment falls upon the one who passed it.

And what you were falsely reproached for

Is truth's innocence and the finest virtues.

And what harm comes to light if they inscribe

A blemish upon it with the ink of darkness?

And young men—if you look closely, you will find

[Unclear word in the source] judges—servants.

They sought to belittle, among humankind,

A noble character; so it rose and reached perfection.

And they tried to stigmatize a virtuous man

With what God and nobility would not allow him.

So they blackened the faces of their judgments,

And the accused virtuous man's face grew white.
