زَائِرَةٍa female visitor فِيكُمْamong you وَمِنْand from among زَائِرْa male visitor
زَائِرَةٍ فِيكُمْ وَمِنْ زَائِرْ
Welcome to the people of virtue and nobility—
Welcome to those of merit and nobility, from
To every woman and man visiting among you.
A visitor among you and from visitors.
لُطْفٌkindness تَلقَّاهُreceive it بُنَيَّاتُكُمْyour little daughters
لُطْفٌ تَلقَّاهُ بُنَيَّاتُكُمْ
بِكُلِّwith every قلْبٍheart فَرحٍjoyful شاكِرْgrateful
بِكُلِّ قلْبٍ فَرحٍ شاكِرْ
A kindness your little daughters receive
Kindness your daughters have received
With every joyful, grateful heart.
With hearts delighted and grateful.
فِيin هَذِهthis الدَّارِhouse الَّتيwhich أُحْدِثتْwas established
فِي هَذِه الدَّارِ الَّتي أُحْدِثتْ
عَلَىaccording to مِثالٍa model عَجَبٍwondrous نادِرْrare
عَلَى مِثالٍ عَجَبٍ نادِرْ
In this house, which was established
In this institution that was established
After a wondrous, rare model,
On a model of wonder and rarity,
يَعْقِدُbinds نُورُthe light of الْعِلمِknowledge إِكْلِيلَهُits wreath
يَعْقِدُ نُورُ الْعِلمِ إِكْلِيلَهُ
عَلَىupon جَبِينِthe brow of الْخُلُقِcharacter الطَّاهِرْpure
عَلَى جَبِينِ الْخُلُقِ الطَّاهِرْ
The light of knowledge binds its wreath
The light of knowledge crowns
Upon the brow of pure character.
The forehead of virtuous character.
كُلْيِّةٌa college نظَّمَorganized أَقْسَامَهَاits departments
كُلْيِّةٌ نظَّمَ أَقْسَامَهَا
رَأْيُthe judgment of خَبِيرٍan expert فَطِنٍperceptive مَاهِرْskilled
رَأْيُ خَبِيرٍ فَطِنٍ مَاهِرْ
A college whose departments were organized
A college whose departments were organized
By the judgment of a perceptive, skilled expert.
By the view of an expert, keen and skillful.
فُصُولُهَاits classes أَرْبَعَةٌfour قُدِّرَتْwere set
فُصُولُهَا أَرْبَعَةٌ قُدِّرَتْ
مْنِfrom أَوَّلِthe beginning of الدَّرْسِstudy إِلىto الآخِرْthe end
مْنِ أَوَّلِ الدَّرْسِ إِلى الآخِرْ
Its classes were set at four,
Its terms are four, determined
From the beginning of study to the end,
From the first lesson to the last.
ِمثْلُlike فُصُولِthe seasons of الْعَامِthe year لَكِنَّهُyet it is
ِمثْلُ فُصُولِ الْعَامِ لَكِنَّهُ
عَامٌa year رَبِيعٌspring ثَابِتٌenduring ناضِرْverdant
عَامٌ رَبِيعٌ ثَابِتٌ ناضِرْ
Like the seasons of the year; yet it is
Like the seasons of the year, but it
A year of spring, enduring and verdant.
Is a fixed, flourishing, vibrant spring.
تَدْرُجُadvances فِيهَاwithin it الْبِنْتُthe girl أَدْرَاجَهَاits stages
تَدْرُجُ فِيهَا الْبِنْتُ أَدْرَاجَهَا
نَقِيَّةَpure الْبَاطِنِthe inward self وَالظَّاهِرْand the outward self
نَقِيَّةَ الْبَاطِنِ وَالظَّاهِرْ
The girl advances within it through its stages,
In it the girl progresses her steps
Pure inwardly and outwardly.
Pure in heart and appearance.
فَتَبْلُغُthus she attains التَّأَدِيبَeducation and moral training مُسْتَوْفِياًfulfilling
فَتَبْلُغُ التَّأَدِيبَ مُسْتَوْفِياً
تَمَامَهُits full measure بِالأَدَبِthrough refinement الْوَافِرْabundant
تَمَامَهُ بِالأَدَبِ الْوَافِرْ
Thus she attains an education that fulfills
She achieves refinement fully
Its full measure through abundant refinement.
With abundant etiquette.
آخِذَةٌtaking مِنْfrom كُلِّevery عِلْمٍbranch of knowledge بِمَاof what
آخِذَةٌ مِنْ كُلِّ عِلْمٍ بِمَا
يَفِيsuffices بِحَاجِfor the needs of الزَّمَنِthe age الْحَاضِرْpresent
يَفِي بِحَاجِ الزَّمَنِ الْحَاضِرْ
Taking from every branch of knowledge what
Grasping from every science what
Meets the needs of the present age.
Fulfills the needs of the present time,
مُعَدَّةٌprepared لِلْعَيْشِfor life مَاwhatever يُقْتَضَىis required
مُعَدَّةٌ لِلْعَيْشِ مَا يُقْتَضَى
مِنْof نَافِعٍwhat is useful فِيin الْفَنart أَوْor فَاخِرْsplendid
مِنْ نَافِعٍ فِي الْفَن أَوْ فَاخِرْ
Prepared for life with whatever is required
Prepared for life's requirements
Of what is useful or splendid in art.
Of what is beneficial in art or sublime.
قَدْalready لاَحَhas appeared مُسْتَقْبِلُهَاher future فَانْظُرُواso behold
قَدْ لاَحَ مُسْتَقْبِلُهَا فَانْظُرُوا
أَشِعَّةَthe rays of الْمُسْتَقْبَلِthe future الْبَاهِرْdazzling
أَشِعَّةَ الْمُسْتَقْبَلِ الْبَاهِرْ
Her future has dawned; so behold
Its future has shone, so look
The rays of the dazzling future,
At the rays of the splendid future,
مِنْfrom فَتَيَاتٍyoung women زَاهِيَاتٍradiant الْحُلَىadornments
مِنْ فَتَيَاتٍ زَاهِيَاتٍ الْحُلَى
فِيin كُلِّevery نَادٍgathering بِالنُّهَىwith intellect زَاهِرْaglow
فِي كُلِّ نَادٍ بِالنُّهَى زَاهِرْ
From young women radiant in their adornments,
Of radiant girls adorned with beauty
In every gathering aglow with intellect,
Blossoming with advice in every club.
وَأُمَّهَاتٍand mothers تَتَجَلّىshines forth بِهَاthrough them
وَأُمَّهَاتٍ تَتَجَلّى بِهَا
مَزِيَّةُthe superiority of الآتِيwhat is to come عَلَىover الْغَابِرْwhat is past
مَزِيَّةُ الآتِي عَلَى الْغَابِرْ
And mothers through whom shines forth
And mothers who embody
The future's superiority over the past.
The excellence of what is to come over what is past.
