ـسٍّ مِنَ الإِحْسَانِ شِيدا
An edifice of learning, on a foundation
A monument of gratitude built
of benevolence, was raised.
On a foundation of benevolence.
نَشَّأnurtured النَّابِتَةَthe rising generation المُـthe exemplary (first part)
نَشَّأ النَّابِتَةَ المُـ
ـثْلَىexemplary (completion) وَأَنْمَاهَاand made it grow عَدِيداin number
ـثْلَى وَأَنْمَاهَا عَدِيدا
It nurtured the rising generation—
It cultivated the ideal plant
the exemplary one—and increased its numbers.
And made it grow abundantly.
يَاO وَزِيرَMinister of العِلْمِlearning لازُلْmay not cease (first part)
يَا وَزِيرَ العِلْمِ لازُلْ
تَyou (verb ending) لأَهْلِيهِfor its people عَمِيداa leader
تَ لأَهْلِيهِ عَمِيدا
O Minister of Learning, may you always
O Minister of Knowledge, you still
remain a leader to its people.
Lead your people as a pillar.
أَنْتَyou مَنْthe one who يَسْبَقُprecedes مِنْهُfrom him
أَنْتَ مَنْ يَسْبَقُ مِنْهُ
نَاجِزُaccomplished الْفَضْلِgenerosity الوُعُوداthe promises
نَاجِزُ الْفَضْلِ الوُعُودا
You are the one whose

Whenever generosity is increased,

its harvests yield still more.

حَبَّذَاhow fine النيْرُوزُNayruz عِيداًas a festival
حَبَّذَا النيْرُوزُ عِيداً
كلَّماwhenever عَادَreturned جَدِيداanew
كلَّما عَادَ جَدِيدا
How fine is Nayruz as a festival,
How wonderful is Nowruz as a holiday,
whenever it returns anew!
Renewed whenever it comes again.
هُوَit رَأْسُbeginning of العِلْمِlearning قَدْalready أَقْـcame (first part)
هُوَ رَأْسُ العِلْمِ قَدْ أَقْـ
ـبَلَcame (completion) مَيْمُوناًauspicious حَمِيداpraiseworthy
ـبَلَ مَيْمُوناً حَمِيدا
It is the beginning of learning; it has come,
He is the pinnacle of knowledge,
auspicious and praiseworthy.
Who has received auspicious, praiseworthy greetings.
صَادِقُtrue to الْمِيعَادِthe appointed time لاَnot يَخْـgrows worn (first part)
صَادِقُ الْمِيعَادِ لاَ يَخْـ
ـلَقُgrows worn (completion) وَشْكاًquickly أَوْor وَئِيداslowly
ـلَقُ وَشْكاً أَوْ وَئِيدا
True to its appointed time, it never
True to his word, he does not break
grows worn, quickly or slowly.

فَتَمَلَّوْهُso savor it fully لِقَاءًmeeting
فَتَمَلَّوْهُ لِقَاءً
