لِيَهْنِئْكُمُmay it gladden you النَّصرُthe victory العَزِيزُmighty المُؤَزَّرُfirmly supported
God's promise is fulfilled, and God is greatest.
Allah's promise has been fulfilled, and Allah is the Greatest
May the mighty, triumphant victory gladden you.
To give you glad tidings of mighty victory embellished
إِذاif كَاثَرَتْكُمْoutnumbers you أَمَّةa nation بِعَدِيدِهَاwith its numbers

If a nation outnumbers you with its multitude,
When a nation challenges you with its multitude
Then you are more numerous, for right has sided with you.
Yet you, true to your cause, are far greater
وَمَاand not بَلَغreached الغَايَاتِthe goals وَهْيَwhile they are بَعِيدَةٌdistant

And none has reached the goals, distant as they are,
None reaches far goals while they remain distant
Despite the enemies, except the most steadfast.
Despite the hostility except he who is most patient
جَلَتْwithdrew عَنْfrom سَماءٍa sky فِيin دِمَشْقَDamascus مُغِيرَةٌraiding
سَحَائِبُclouds كَانَتْwere بِالصَّوَاعِقِwith thunderbolts تُمْطِرُraining
Gone from the sky over Damascus are the raiding
Over Damascus glowered clouds, stormy and pouring
Clouds that once rained down thunderbolts.
Spring blossoms wafted, cleansed of the rot once nurtured
وَهَبَّتand sprang up أَزَاهِيرُthe blossoms الرَّبِيعِof spring نَقِيَّةًpure
جَلاَهَاcleansed them مِنَof النَّقعِthe dust الَّذِيthat كَانَwas يُنْشَرُbeing scattered
And spring's blossoms sprang up pristine,
To God belong a people with resolve and prohibition
Cleansed of the dust that had been scattered.
Who challenged the calamities of fate till they were liberated
فِللّهِso to God قَوْمٌa people بِالعَزَائِمِwith firm resolve وَالنُّهىand reason
تَحدَّوْاdefied رَزَايَاthe calamities الدَّهْرِof time حَتَّىuntil تحَرَّرُواthey became free
God be praised for a people who, with resolve and reason,
They walked seeking glory, with death the price
Defied time's calamities until they won their freedom.
And they won it while death watched in shame
مَشوْاthey marched فِيin ابْتِغاءِpursuit of المَجْدِglory وَالمَوْتُwhile death دُونَهُin its way
فَفَازواso they triumphed بِهِin it وَالمَوْتُwhile death خَزْيَانُashamed يَنْظُرُlooks on
They marched in pursuit of glory, with death barring the way,
Each answered their conscience's call
And won it, while death looked on in shame.
The young and the old equal in sacrifice and devotion
وَكُلُّهُمُand all of them لبَّىanswered نِدَاءَthe call of ضَمِيرِهِhis conscience
سَوَاءٌalike فَتَاهُمْtheir young man فِيin الفِدَىself-sacrifice وَالمُعَمِّرُand the aged man
And every one of them answered his conscience's call;
None disappointed nor hesitated to charge
Their young and old were equal in self-sacrifice.
Nor did the commanded excel the commander
فَماso not خاسَbroke faith مِنْهُمْamong them أَوْor تَرَدَّدَhesitated ذائِدٌa defender
وَمَاand not فَضَلَsurpassed المَأْمُورَthe subordinate فِيهِمْamong them مُؤَمَّرُa commander
So no defender among them broke faith or hesitated,
Most generous were their martyrs in their offering
Nor did a commander among them surpass a subordinate.
To God - which offering is most virtuous and pure?
وأَكْرَمُهُمْand their noblest فِيin بَذْلِهِمْtheir sacrifice شهَدَاؤُهُمْtheir martyrs
علَىbefore اللّهِGod أَيُّwhat البَذْلِsacrifice أَزْكَىworthier وَأَطْهَرُand purer
And their martyrs are the noblest in their sacrifice
Ask them - our living witnesses today of the Heights
Before God—what sacrifice is worthier and purer?
Their spirits soar to us, heralding good cheer
سَلُوهُمْask them فَهُمْfor they are أَشْهَادُنَاour witnesses اليَوْمَtoday مِنْfrom عَلٍon high
وَأَرْوَاحُهُمْand their spirits تَرْنُوgaze إِلَيْنَاtoward us فَتُبْشِرُand so rejoice
Ask them, for they are our witnesses today from on high,
When a nation fails to immortalize its martyrs
And their spirits gaze toward us and rejoice.
Shed blood merits no glory, spent tears no honor
إِذَاif لَمْdoes not تُخَلِّدْimmortalize أُمَّةa nation شُهَدَاءَهَاits martyrs
فَمَاthen not الدَّمُthe blood مَطْلُولٌleft unavenged وَلاَnor الدَّمْعُthe tears يهْدُرُare wasted
If a nation does not immortalize its martyrs,
Syria prides in what she has achieved
Then blood is not left unavenged, nor are tears wasted.
And many others wish today they could boast the same
لِسُورِيَّةfor Syria فخْرٌpride بِمَاin what هِيshe أَحْرَزتْhas achieved

Syria has pride in what she has achieved,
Hama's protectors of the letter "Dhad" celebrate their feast
And it is no excess for her to take pride today.
Villagers and city dwellers alike make feast

In every heart happiness has built a throne
Desert dwellers and townsfolk among them celebrate it.
And every face glows with joy and cheer

A feast for Arabism, heralding from the unseen
And on every face, an outward sign of happiness.
Future feasts and tidings to be revealed
