فِيمَاin what أَرَدْتَyou wished بِنَاءهُto build it فَبُنِيso it was built
Success did not fail its companion
Success did not fail its owner
in what you wished to build—and it was built.
In what you wanted to build, so it was built

Can even the most inaccessible thing prove too hard for
What is more difficult or impregnable
those resolves and keen insights of yours?
Than those resolves from you and intelligence

Egypt's constitution was restored through confidence
Egypt's constitution was restored with confidence
in justice—a confidence that neither weakened nor faltered.
In truth that did not weaken or tire
وَأُعِيدَand was restored الاسْتِقْلالُindependence مُنْتَزَعاًwrested away
مِنْfrom عَادِيَاتِthe ravages الدَّهْرِof time وَالمِحَنِand tribulations
And independence was restored, wrested
And independence was restored, wrested
from the ravages of time and tribulations.
From the adversities of fate and tribulations

The people's unity drew its blade
The unity of the people tore off its band
from its sheath, in the grip of rancor.
From its sheath in the handle of sorrow

An elite of leaders whom
by a bond that then embraced time.
A pact brought together encompassing time

جَارُواthey strayed وَذَاكَand that النُّورُlight فِيon السُّنَنِthe paths
They followed your guidance, rightly guided—[so they did not?]
They went guided by your guidance as rightful leaders
stray, with that light upon the paths.
So they lived in harmony and that light in traditions
عِزٌّglory إذَاwhenever مَاever (emphasis) سَاوَامَهُمْbargained with them (irregular spelling)

Glory—whenever it bargained with them—
Glory, if it equals them
they gave their lives freely, without rancor.
They give themselves without reluctance

So rejoice; Saad is the best to begin
So congratulations and happy is the best starter
with renewed appreciation from the homeland.
With the new estimate of the homeland
لوif قيلit were said للحسنto Beauty كيفhow تهوىyou desire

If Beauty were asked, "How would you wish
If it was said to Al-Hassan how do you love

If you had to choose to be

He would have said in the beginning of everything
"Oh, if only these eyes were mine!"
I wish for these eyes
