شِفَاؤُكَyour recovery عِيدa festival بِهِin it نَسْعَدُwe rejoice
شِفَاؤُكَ عِيد بِهِ نَسْعَدُ
وَنحْمُدُand we give thanks لِلهto God مَاwhat تَحْمَدُyou give thanks for
وَنحْمُدُ لِله مَا تَحْمَدُ
Your recovery is a festival in which we rejoice.
Your recovery brings joy, we are glad
And we thank God for what you thank Him for.
We praise God, as you offer praise
وَشَعْبُكَand your people بَعْدَafter ضَرَاعَاتِهtheir supplications
وَشَعْبُكَ بَعْدَ ضَرَاعَاتِه
لِخَالِقهto their Creator شَاكِراًgratefully يَسْجُدُbow down
لِخَالِقه شَاكِراً يَسْجُدُ
And your people, after their supplications
And your people after their prayers
to their Creator, bow down in gratitude.
Thank their Creator, bowing down
لِرَبِّكَyour Lord's عِنْدَكَwith you فِيin كُلِّevery يَوْمٍday
لِرَبِّكَ عِنْدَكَ فِي كُلِّ يَوْمٍ
يدٌa hand of favor يَاO مَلِيكِيmy king تَلِيهَاfollows it يَدُa hand of favor
يدٌ يَا مَلِيكِي تَلِيهَا يَدُ
Each day your Lord extends to you
To your Lord you have each day
a gracious hand, O my king, followed by another.
My king, one hand followed by another
عِنَايَةcare مَوْلىًa Lord خَلِيقٌdeserving بِهَاof it
عِنَايَة مَوْلىً خَلِيقٌ بِهَا
أَبَرُّthe most righteous أُولِيholders of الأمْرِauthority وَالاجْوَدُand the most generous
أَبَرُّ أُولِي الأمْرِ وَالاجْوَدُ
A Lord's care, deserved by
A ruler's care, fitting for him
the most righteous and generous of rulers.
The most righteous of rulers, and generous
بِلاَدُthe lands of الْعُرُوبَةِthe Arab world بِالتَّهْنِئَاwith congratulations (continued)
بِلاَدُ الْعُرُوبَةِ بِالتَّهْنِئَا
تِcompletes 'congratulations' يُجَاوِبُanswers أَقْرَبُهَاthe nearest of them الأبْعَدُthe farthest
تِ يُجَاوِبُ أَقْرَبُهَا الأبْعَدُ
The lands of the Arab world, with congratulations:
The Arab world congratulates
the nearest of them answers the farthest.
Even the furthest responds
وَلَمْand not تَكُthey were إِلاَّexcept عَلَىin حُبِّهَاtheir love
وَلَمْ تَكُ إِلاَّ عَلَى حُبِّهَا
لِفَارُوقَfor Farouk يَجْمَعُهَاunites them مَقْصِدُa purpose
لِفَارُوقَ يَجْمَعُهَا مَقْصِدُ
And only their love
It was only due to its love
for Farouk has united them in purpose.
That Al-Farouq unites its purpose
لقَدْindeed أَمَنَتْthey felt safe from دَهْرَهَاtheir fate إِذْwhen نَهَضْـrose (continued)
لقَدْ أَمَنَتْ دَهْرَهَا إِذْ نَهَضْـ
ـتَyou (completes 'you rose') وَعَزْمُكَand your resolve وَالْحَزْمُand prudence مَاwhat تَعْهَدُyou are accustomed to
ـتَ وَعَزْمُكَ وَالْحَزْمُ مَا تَعْهَدُ
Indeed, they felt safe from fate when you rose,
It entrusted its era when you arose
with your customary resolve and prudence.
Your resolve and wisdom are true to your word
تَصُونsafeguard مُلوكkings كَرَامَاتِهَاtheir dignity
تَصُون مُلوك كَرَامَاتِهَا
وَأَنْتand you لَهَاfor them الصائِنُthe guardian الاَّيدُthe mighty
وَأَنْت لَهَا الصائِنُ الاَّيدُ
Kings safeguard their dignity,
Guarding the dignities of its kings
and you are their mighty guardian.
While you are its supporter and helper
وَتَقَضِيand attain شُعُوبٌnations كِبَارَgreat الْمُنَىhopes
وَتَقَضِي شُعُوبٌ كِبَارَ الْمُنَى
وَأَنْتَand you الْمؤَازِرُthe supporter وَالْمُسْعِدُand the bringer of joy
وَأَنْتَ الْمؤَازِرُ وَالْمُسْعِدُ
And nations attain their great hopes,
Noble wishes of the people come true
and you are their supporter and bringer of joy.
While you are the helper and fulfiller
فَرَأَيكَso your counsel مَوْئِلُهَاtheir refuge الْمُطْمَئِنُّthe secure
فَرَأَيكَ مَوْئِلُهَا الْمُطْمَئِنُّ
وَبَأْسُكَand your might مَعْقِلهَاtheir stronghold الاوْطَدُthe firmest
وَبَأْسُكَ مَعْقِلهَا الاوْطَدُ
For your counsel is their secure refuge,
So your view is its haven of comfort
and your might their firmest stronghold.
And your might is its firmest stronghold
أَمَوْلاَيَO my lord أَرْفَعُI offer آيَtokens of الوَلاَloyalty (continued)
أَمَوْلاَيَ أَرْفَعُ آيَ الوَلاَ
ءِcompletes 'loyalty' وَقَلْبِand my heart يُسَطِّرُهَاwrites them لاَnot الْيَدُthe hand
ءِ وَقَلْبِ يُسَطِّرُهَا لاَ الْيَدُ
O my lord, I offer tokens of loyalty,
My master, the highest signs of loyalty
and my heart writes them, not my hand.
Inscribed by a heart, not by a hand
إَذَاif أَنْضَبَتْdry up عِلَلٌailments مَوْرِديmy wellspring
إَذَا أَنْضَبَتْ عِلَلٌ مَوْرِدي
فَمِنْthen from منْبَعِthe fountain of الْفَخْرِpride لِيَfor me مَوْرِدُa wellspring
فَمِنْ منْبَعِ الْفَخْرِ لِيَ مَوْرِدُ
If ailments dry up my wellspring,
When my resources are depleted
then from the fountain of pride comes a wellspring for me.
From the spring of pride, my resource flows
أَلَيْسَتْare not فِعَالُكَyour deeds فِيin كُلِّall مَاthat which
أَلَيْسَتْ فِعَالُكَ فِي كُلِّ مَا
يُعَزُّbrings honor to بِلاَدَكyour country لاَnot تَنْفَدُrun out
يُعَزُّ بِلاَدَك لاَ تَنْفَدُ
Are not your deeds, in all that
Are not your deeds, in all that
brings honor to your country, inexhaustible?
Uplifts your country, never-ending?
وَكَمْand how many لَكَare yours فَتْحٌa triumph جَديدٌnew بِهin it
وَكَمْ لَكَ فَتْحٌ جَديدٌ بِه
تَبَارَىvie نُبُوغُكَyour genius وَالسُّؤْدَدُand eminence
تَبَارَى نُبُوغُكَ وَالسُّؤْدَدُ
And how many new triumphs are yours, in which
And how many new victories have you
your genius and eminence vie!
Where your brilliance and happiness abound
فَدُمْso live on لِلْكَنَانةfor Kinana دُمْlive on لِلْعُروfor the Arab world (continued)
فَدُمْ لِلْكَنَانة دُمْ لِلْعُرو
بَةcompletes 'the Arab world' وَلْيَرْعَكَand may He watch over you الأحَدُthe One السَّرْمَدُthe Eternal
بَة وَلْيَرْعَكَ الأحَدُ السَّرْمَدُ
So live on for Kinana; live on for the Arab world,
So stay, for refinement, stay for Arabism
and may the One, the Eternal, watch over you.
And may the Eternal watch over you
