قالوا المعادنُ لا تشِفُّ وَلَيسَ ذا

قالوا المعادنُ لا تشِفُّ وَلَيسَ ذا

حقاّ اذا امعنتَ فكرَ بصيرِ

حقاّ اذا امعنتَ فكرَ بصيرِ

They said, “Metals are not transparent”—but this is not

They say that metals do not heal, but that

true, if you ponder with a discerning mind.

Is not true if you reflect with insight

وانظر إلى الدينار فهو أَشَفُّ ما

وانظر إلى الدينار فهو أَشَفُّ ما

صنعتهُ أَهل الرَصد وَالتَقديرِ

صنعتهُ أَهل الرَصد وَالتَقديرِ

And look at the dinar: it is the most transparent thing

And look upon the dinar, it is the finest

made by those skilled in observation and calculation.

That those skilled in minting coins can create

مِنهُ يُرى الانسان في كبرٍ وفي

مِنهُ يُرى الانسان في كبرٍ وفي

صِغَرٍ فَفيهِ مزيَّة التَصغير

صِغَرٍ فَفيهِ مزيَّة التَصغير

Through it a person is seen magnified and

Through it, a man is seen in maturity and

diminished; for it has the virtue of diminution.

In youth, so it holds the virtue of scaling down
