لآل الريّس انهلَّت دموعٌ

لانطونٍ حكت صوب العهادِ

Tears rained for the chieftain's family

For Antun they flowed towards the worshipers

كَريمٌ قد سَقاهُ دمعُ قَومٍ

كرامٍ قَد كُسوا ثوب الحدادِ

A generous man who was given the tears of a generous people

Who have worn the clothes of bereavement

فَقُلتُ مؤَرّخاً أَرواك معهُ

سلام اللَه لا مَطَرُ الغوادي

So I said in elegy I show you with him

God's peace, not the rain of valleys
