بعض المنظَّم ليس يُجدي وهو في
حالa state النظامorder لغابَةٍfor a forest فيُشوَّشُso it is disordered
حال النظام لغابَةٍ فيُشوَّشُ
Some of what is ordered is of no use while in
Some order does no good when it's imposed
a state of order for a forest, so it is disordered;
Upon a wilderness to keep it composed
كَحِجارةlike stones الختمof the seal الصقيلةِpolished لاnot تفيsuffice
كَحِجارة الختم الصقيلةِ لا تفي
حَتىَّuntil يُخدَّشَis scratched سطحهاtheir surface اذwhen يُنقَشُit is engraved
حَتىَّ يُخدَّشَ سطحها اذ يُنقَشُ
like polished seal-stones, which do not suffice
Like polished gemstones that won't take a form
until their surface is scratched as it is engraved.
Until their smooth surface gets etched and worn
