لَخَليلfor Khalil برباريBarbari غُلامٌa boy طَيبٌfine
لَخَليل برباري غُلامٌ طَيبٌ
وافىhe arrived فكانand was لِقاهُmeeting him بهجةَthe joy عيدِa feast day
وافى فكان لِقاهُ بهجةَ عيدِ
Khalil Barbari has a fine boy.
My friend is a gentle youth, sincere and kind
He arrived, and meeting him was the joy of a feast day.
Meeting him brings joy like a holiday
دُعيَhe was called الفَريدَal-Farid (the unique one) وانand if دعوتَyou pray لَهُfor him فقلthen say
دُعيَ الفَريدَ وان دعوتَ لَهُ فقل
ارَّختُI marked the date ينشوmay he grow up وهوand he غيرُnot فَريدِalone
ارَّختُ ينشو وهو غيرُ فَريدِ
He was called al-Farid, 'the Unique'; and if you pray for him, say:
Call him al-Farid and if you call him, say
I marked the date: may he grow up and not be alone.
"May you live long though you are one of a kind"
