وَداعُكَbidding you farewell امor وَداعُbidding farewell القَلبthe heart أَصوَبmore fitting
Is parting from you harder, or meeting death?
Is parting with you or meeting death more difficult?
Is bidding you farewell more fitting, or bidding farewell to the heart?
And is bidding you farewell or bidding farewell to my heart more proper?

Meeting death is easier for me; and my heart—
Meeting death is easier for me and my heart -
I bid it farewell and leave it to be tormented.
I bid it farewell and leave it to suffer.

وَيُجزىand is requited كُلُّevery مَنone who للذنبfor sin سبَّبwas a cause
It is the cause from which my suffering arises,
It is the reason, the cause of what is in me,
And whoever causes sin is requited.
And every one who causes sin will be punished.

God forbid! No guilt rests upon it.
God forbid it has no sin upon it -
For it is a benefactor—can it be said to have sinned?
For that is a benefactor, can it be said he sinned?
اراهُI see it مُحسناًa benefactor منfrom حيثُthe standpoint إِنيthat I

I see it as a benefactor, since I
I saw him as a benefactor in that I,
Through it have come to be counted among those who love you.
Through him, was counted among your lovers.

And it is honor enough for me, and pride enough,
And it is enough pride and honor for me
That in love I am linked to you.
That I am attributed in love for you.

And if I find acceptance with you,
And if I found acceptance with you,
Then I am a servant who has come to be accepted by the Lord.
Then a slave attained acceptance from his Lord.

When my soul remembers you, it almost
When my soul mentions you it almost
Melts, and my heart melts still more.
Melts, and my heart is the most melted.

So may peace greet you at every moment,
So greetings of peace to you at all times,
In the gentlest and sweetest form it can take.
With the most benevolence with which it can be.

And may the breeze ever bring you
And the breeze continues to send to you
A greeting of peace, for the breeze is closer to you.
Greetings - so the breeze to you is most near.

فراقُكَparting from you امor لِقآءُmeeting الموتdeath أَصعَبharder

Indeed, the time for parting has come, yes—but
Parting has come, yes, but your parting -
Is parting from you harder, or meeting death?
Is it or meeting death more difficult?
