بدارin the house of الياسElias قدhas حلَّتshe settled فجلَّتand became exalted
بدار الياس قد حلَّت فجلَّت
فَتاةٌa maiden قدhas كَساهاclothed her الحسنُbeauty بُردَهits mantle
فَتاةٌ قد كَساها الحسنُ بُردَه
In Elias's house she has settled and become exalted—
In the house of joy she has arrived and seated herself
a maiden whom beauty has clothed in its mantle.
A girl clothed in the garment of beauty
رأَوهاthey saw her زهرةًa flower ارَّختI composed a chronogram فاقتshe excelled
رأَوها زهرةً ارَّخت فاقت
فسمَّوهاso they named her لذلكfor that reason باسمby the name of وردهWarda (Rose)
فسمَّوها لذلك باسم ورده
They saw her as a flower; I composed a chronogram: “She excelled,
They saw her as a flower in full bloom
so for that reason they named her Warda (Rose).”
And so named her Rose for that reason
