الّا لدى الشوق والتذكار والكمد
I journey away from you with a heart I cannot find beside me,
I journey away from you with a heart I do not see with me,
except amid longing, remembrance, and anguish.
Except amid longing, remembrance, and sorrow.
يغيبit vanishes عنيfrom me وَيأَتينيand it comes to me فواعجباso, oh what a wonder!
يغيب عني وَيأَتيني فواعجبا
منat غائبٍone absent حاضرٍone present دانٍone near كمبتعدlike one far away
من غائبٍ حاضرٍ دانٍ كمبتعد
It leaves me, then comes back to me—how wondrous—
It vanishes from me and comes to me—oh, how I marvel
absent yet present, near as one far away.
At one absent yet present, near yet like one far away!
