لِبَنيfor the sons of الشويريّal-Shuwayri الكرامthe noble قدindeed اِنجَلىappeared
لِبَني الشويريّ الكرام قد اِنجَلى
نَجلٌa son يُحاكيresembles البدرthe full moon لَيلةَon the night of تمهits fullness
نَجلٌ يُحاكي البدر لَيلةَ تمه
For the noble al-Shuwayri family there has appeared
For the honorable Bani al-Shuwairee has dawned
A son resembling the full moon on the night of its fullness.
A son who rivals the full moon on a perfect night
فشداso he sang مؤَرّخهُhis chronicler وغرَّدand warbled قائلاًsaying
فشدا مؤَرّخهُ وغرَّد قائلاً
لاmay ... not زالَcease to be فيin الدنياthis world سَليمٌSalim; safe and sound كاسمهِlike his name
لا زالَ في الدنيا سَليمٌ كاسمهِ
So his chronicler sang and warbled, saying:
So his chronicler rejoiced and sang, saying:
May Salim ever remain safe in this world, true to his name.
"Salim still lives in this world, as his name suggests."
