حَياةٌ لها تَستَلزِمُ المَدَنيَّة

Discussing literature among its devotees

is life itself for it—a life that civilization requires—

Is its life, and entails civilization,

لتأليفها ما بين افكار عُصبةٍ

لتأليفها ما بين افكار عُصبةٍ

قَد اتَّصفت بالغَيرة الوَطَنيَّة

قَد اتَّصفت بالغَيرة الوَطَنيَّة

to bring it into harmony among the thoughts of a band

For it brings together the thoughts of a group

distinguished by patriotic zeal.

Marked by patriotic zeal.

وَلما رأَت منّا رجالٌ لزومَ ذا

وَلما رأَت منّا رجالٌ لزومَ ذا

لاوطاننا السوريَّة العربيَّه

لاوطاننا السوريَّة العربيَّه

And when men among us recognized the need for this
