يا قلب للشوق في أَحشاك نيرانُ

يا قلب للشوق في أَحشاك نيرانُ

هَلّا تخفّفها بالدمعِ أَجفانُ

هَلّا تخفّفها بالدمعِ أَجفانُ

O heart, there are fires of longing within your depths.

Will not eyelids lessen them with tears?

ويا احبّايَ قد اضحت محبتنا

ويا احبّايَ قد اضحت محبتنا

كأَنَّها لم تكن وَالدَهرُ نسيانُ

كأَنَّها لم تكن وَالدَهرُ نسيانُ

And O my beloveds, our love has become

as though it had never been; time is forgetfulness.

لقد اسأنا اليكم في محبتنا

لقد اسأنا اليكم في محبتنا

لكم فصفحٌ احبائي وغفرانُ

لكم فصفحٌ احبائي وغفرانُ

Indeed, we have wronged you in our love

for you; so grant pardon and forgiveness, my beloveds.

علَّمتمونا القلا والبعضَ بعدكمُ

علَّمتمونا القلا والبعضَ بعدكمُ

فَذاكَ في شرعكم خَيرٌ واحسانُ

فَذاكَ في شرعكم خَيرٌ واحسانُ

You taught us aversion and hatred [apparently intended; the text reads 'some'] after your departure;

and that, in your law, is goodness and kindness.
