وَوَجههُ نورهُ في افق قامتهِ
As though his body, in its softness, were wax,
His body in its softness is like wax,
And his face its light on the horizon of his stature.
His face in its horizon is shining light.

Why does he not melt? Then they said he is a moon:
Why does it not melt? They said: It is the moon,
Light, and no fire to speak of in his wick.

I fear the effect of my love upon his delicacy.
I fear the effect of my love on his gentleness.
