وَجَماعةٍand many a group تلقاكgreets you باسمةًsmiling
وَجَماعةٍ تلقاك باسمةً
وَقلوبُهاand their hearts سُودٌblack وأَكبُدُهاand their livers
وَقلوبُها سُودٌ وأَكبُدُها
And many a group greets you smiling,
A group greets you with smiles
Yet their hearts are black, and their livers too,
While their hearts are black and their livers
كالبائعlike the seller المُطريlavishly praising بضاعتَهُhis merchandise
كالبائع المُطري بضاعتَهُ
يُثنيpraises عليهاupon it وَهوَwhile he يَطرُدُهاgets rid of it
يُثني عليها وَهوَ يَطرُدُها
Like a seller extolling his merchandise:
Like a peddler praising his wares
He praises it even as he gets rid of it.
While he discards them and drives them away
