صدقتُ فاني بعدهُ لم أعُد حيّا
A parting through which we recalled departure from this world.
A parting that reminded us of parting from this world,
I spoke truly, for after it I was no longer alive.
You spoke true, after it I was no longer living,

And death is nothing but the loss of what one most desires:
What is death but losing the best of desires?
It is life—but to me, that is reunion.
Life is living, but to me that is the meeting.
