ليوسُفَ من آل الصليبيّ منزلٌ
بأَرجآئِهِthrough its grounds طافroamed الهناhappiness وتدفَّقاand overflowed
بأَرجآئِهِ طاف الهنا وتدفَّقا
Yusuf of the al-Salibi family has a home;
Yusuf has a house from the Crusader family
Through its grounds happiness roamed and overflowed.
In its corners the splendor circulated and flowed
مَقامٌan abode بدتappeared فيهِin it بدورٌfull moons تبسَّمَتsmiled
مَقامٌ بدت فيهِ بدورٌ تبسَّمَت
لِزُوَّارِهاto their visitors عنrevealing وجهa face انسٍwarmth تأَلقاshone
لِزُوَّارِها عن وجه انسٍ تأَلقا
An abode where full moons appeared, smiling
An abode where white houses smiled
To their visitors, revealing a radiant face of warmth.
To its visitors with a radiant, friendly face
جلاrevealed فَلَكاa firmament فيin غربthe west of لبنانَLebanon رائقاًclear
جلا فَلَكا في غرب لبنانَ رائقاً
فكانand so it was كَماas ارَّختI recorded its date بالغربin the west مَشرِقاa place of sunrise
فكان كَما ارَّخت بالغرب مَشرِقا
It revealed a clear firmament in western Lebanon;
It roamed Lebanese west in the evening calmly
And so, as I recorded its date, it was a place of sunrise in the west.
Thus it recorded the west as the east
