إنif ضاعَwas lost قَلبكyour heart فاتَّهمهاthen accuse her أَنَّهاthat she is
إن ضاعَ قَلبك فاتَّهمها أَنَّها
لِصُّthief القلوبِof hearts وَسارقُand stealer الاكبادِof livers
لِصُّ القلوبِ وَسارقُ الاكبادِ
If your heart is lost, accuse her of being
If your heart is lost, blame her, for she
A thief of hearts and a stealer of livers.
Is the thief of hearts and robber of livers.
فنجتso it survived خزانتهاher treasury الَّتيwhich قدalready اودَعتshe deposited
فنجت خزانتها الَّتي قد اودَعت
فيهاin it القلوبَthe hearts فصحتُthen I cried out اينَwhere فؤاديmy heart
فيها القلوبَ فصحتُ اينَ فؤادي
So her treasury survived—the one where she had stored
Her treasury, where she hoards hearts, is safe -
The hearts; then I cried, “Where is my heart?”
I ask where is my heart that she deposited?
