O you who complain of sorrow, leave it and await relief

From the One who relieves the afflictions of the poor.

واصبر على محن الأيام ذا جلد

ودار وقتك من حين إلى حين

ودار وقتك من حين إلى حين

And bear the trials of the days with fortitude,

And deal gently with your times, from time to time.

ولا تعاند إذا أصبحت في كدر

ولا تعاند إذا أصبحت في كدر

من النوائب واستقبله في اللين

من النوائب واستقبله في اللين

And do not be obstinate when you find yourself in distress

From misfortunes; face it with gentleness.

فانما أنت من ماء ومن طين

Never, never can you be clear and unclouded,

For you are made only of water and clay.
