ألبستَyou clothed قلبيmy heart ذلةabasement الفكَرِthoughts
ألبستَ قلبي ذلة الفكَرِ
وتركتهُand you left it كلاa burden علىupon نصريmy aid
وتركتهُ كلا على نصري
You clothed my heart in the abasement of thought,
You clothed my heart in the humiliation of thought
And left it a burden dependent on my aid.
And left it powerless over my will
لاnot نلتُI attain منكَfrom you منىًwishes أسرُّI rejoice بهاin them
لا نلتُ منكَ منىً أسرُّ بها
وقضيتُand I perish منكَbecause of you بحسرةِwith the anguish of النظرِgazing
وقضيتُ منكَ بحسرةِ النظرِ
May I attain no wishes from you in which to rejoice,
I could not attain from you the joy I secretly wished for
And may I perish because of you, in the anguish of gazing,
And from you I only got the sorrow of my gaze
إنif لمnot أكنI am بهواكَof passion for you معترفاًconfessing
إن لم أكن بهواكَ معترفاً
منfor طُولِthe long duration of حبكَlove for you غيرَnot معتذِرِmaking excuses
من طُولِ حبكَ غيرَ معتذِرِ
If I do not confess my passion for you,
If I were not to confess my love for you
Making no excuse for loving you so long.
After having loved you so long, I would have no excuse
ياO زَهرةَflower of الدنياthe world وبهجتهاand its delight
يا زَهرةَ الدنيا وبهجتها
ومملكَand you who grant dominion اللحظاتِglances للسرِّto the secret
ومملكَ اللحظاتِ للسرِّ
O flower of the world and its delight,
O, flower of life and its joy
And you who give the secret dominion over glances.
And kingdom of moments for my secret
