وحرَّكتَ ما كانَ من ساكِنه
You approached my heart from its safe quarter,
You came to my heart from its refuge
And stirred whatever within it had lain still.
And stirred what was of its calm
وأظهرتَand you revealed بالدمعِwith tears ماwhat لمdid not يَزَلcease
وأظهرتَ بالدمعِ ما لم يَزَل

مَصوناً عزيزاً على صائِنه
And with tears you revealed what had always remained
And showed with tears what had always been
Guarded, precious to its keeper.
Precious and guarded by its keeper

شهيدٌ بما كانَ في باطِنه
I see the body's outward form speaking,
I see the body, its exterior speaks
A witness to what lay within it.
A martyr of what was in its interior

لشوقِ الفؤادِ إلى فاتِنه
An unceasing sickness mingles with it,
It mingles with constant sickness
From the heart's longing for its enchanter.
For the heart's longing for its beauty
