    Why do I find myself deprived of your bounty,

    and reproached and condemned for loving you?

    دَمعاً يَسيلُ على الخدينِ مَسجوما

    O you who saw the eye shed, at the thought of you,

    tears pouring in streams down both cheeks;

    and you for whom my heart, out of love for you, has harbored

    a longing kept hidden even when I divulged secrets:

    Whenever eyes have seen you, or you have appeared before them,

    they have regarded you with reverence and veneration.
