لَمَّا عرفتَ سَريرَتي أقصَيتَني

لَمَّا عرفتَ سَريرَتي أقصَيتَني

وتَركتَني مُتلدِّداً مَحزونا

وتَركتَني مُتلدِّداً مَحزونا

When you learned my innermost feelings, you cast me away,

When you knew my secret, you estranged me

And left me looking about in bewilderment, sorrowful,

And left me hesitating, depressed,

ثقةً بأني لا أفيقُ ولا أرى

ثقةً بأني لا أفيقُ ولا أرى

دِيناً لقلبي غيرَ حبكَ دِينا

دِيناً لقلبي غيرَ حبكَ دِينا

Confident that I would not regain my senses, nor see

Trusting that I will not awake or see

Any faith for my heart but love of you.

A religion for my heart other than your love as a religion

فَلئِن ركنتَ إلى الجفاءِ فإنَّ لي

فَلئِن ركنتَ إلى الجفاءِ فإنَّ لي

قلباً يذوبُ تشوّقاً وحنينا

قلباً يذوبُ تشوّقاً وحنينا

So if you have turned toward coldness, then I have

So if you have resorted to aloofness, then I have

A heart that melts with longing and yearning.

أنتَ الهَوى وأنا الذي أقصيتَهُ

أنتَ الهَوى وأنا الذي أقصيتَهُ

فازدَد فإني لا أفيقُ يقينا

فازدَد فإني لا أفيقُ يقينا

You are love, and I am the one you cast away;

You are the beloved and I am the one you have estranged

So go further, for surely I will not regain my senses.

So increase it, for I will certainly not awake with certainty
