This is your lover, folded in upon his anguish.
His tears flowing as he weeps for his body
His eyes are tearful; he weeps over his body.
One hand raised asking the Merciful for rest
لهhe has يدa hand تسألasks الرحمنَthe All-Merciful راحتهhis relief

One of his hands begs the All-Merciful for relief
The other clasped upon his liver in agony
From what afflicts him, while the other rests upon his liver.
Oh, the length of his sighs from the length of his sorrow
ياoh طولlength زفرتهhis sigh منfrom طولduration حسرتهhis sorrow
وماand what أعدhas been prepared لهfor him فيin يومهhis day وغدهand his tomorrow
Oh, how long his sigh, from his lasting sorrow
With no respite for him today or tomorrow
And what has been prepared for him today and tomorrow!
Oh you who with disdain saw him suffer and despair
ياO منyou who رأىsaw أسفاgrief-stricken مستهزئاmocking دنفاًlovesick

O you who mockingly beheld a grief-stricken, lovesick man,
His wished-for death was in his eyes and hands
His death lay in his eye and his hand.
