حينwhen عزgrew mighty الهوىlove وذلand became humbled العبادُthe people
حين عز الهوى وذل العبادُ
O my solace, you abandoned me to my longing,
O my consolation, I surrendered myself to my yearning
When love grew mighty and people were humbled.
When the passion was strong and the servants were weak
لستI am not أدريI know أينwhere الفؤادُthe heart مقيماabiding
لست أدري أين الفؤادُ مقيما
