سرُّsecret المحبينthe lovers فيكَconcerning you إعلانُopen declaration
سرُّ المحبين فيكَ إعلانُ
الدمعُthe tears يبقىremains عليهِover it كتمانُconcealment
الدمعُ يبقى عليهِ كتمانُ
The lovers’ secret about you is openly declared;
The lovers' secret is with you, a declaration
Tears remain veiled in secrecy.
The tears remain concealed, hidden
أشكوI complain إلىto اللَهGod أننيthat I am دنفٌlovesick
أشكو إلى اللَه أنني دنفٌ
لمdid not يرثِfeel pity ليfor me منbecause of هواكَlove for you إنسانُanyone
لم يرثِ لي من هواكَ إنسانُ
I complain to God that I am lovesick;
I complain to God that I am abject
No one has pitied me for my love of you.
No human has inherited your love from me
ياO حسناًbeautiful one ليسَis not مثلهُhis equal حسنٌbeauty
يا حسناً ليسَ مثلهُ حسنٌ
ماnot عندَهُwith him فيin الفَعالِdeeds إحسانُkindness
ما عندَهُ في الفَعالِ إحسانُ
O beauty, whom no other beauty equals,
O beauty, there is no other beauty like you
Yet whose deeds show no kindness.
No benevolence in your actions
إنif تكُshould be عينيmy eye فيin مائِهاits water غرقَتhas drowned
إن تكُ عيني في مائِها غرقَت
فإنَّthen indeed قلبيmy heart إليكَfor you ظمآنُthirsty
فإنَّ قلبي إليكَ ظمآنُ
If my eye has drowned in its own waters,
If my eyes drown in their tears
Then indeed my heart is thirsty for you.
