اذهَبgo بجِسميwith my body إلىto المَنونِdeath مَعكwith you
اذهَب بجِسمي إلى المَنونِ مَعك
فإنَّfor indeed نأيseparation الحبيبِthe beloved قدalready صدعَكhas shattered you
فإنَّ نأي الحبيبِ قد صدعَك
Take my body with you to death.
Take my body to death with you
For separation from the beloved has shattered you.
For the absence of the beloved has shattered you
ياO قلبُheart قدindeed طالَhas lasted long ماthat which ابتُليتَyou have been afflicted بهِby it
يا قلبُ قد طالَ ما ابتُليتَ بهِ
فاشكُso complain إلىto اللَهِGod جاهداًearnestly وجعَكyour pain
فاشكُ إلى اللَهِ جاهداً وجعَك
O heart, long have you been afflicted by it.
O heart, long have you been afflicted
So complain earnestly to God of your pain.
So pour out your woes earnestly to God
وادعُand pray علىagainst البَينِseparation واشتكِand complain جَزَعاًin anguish
وادعُ على البَينِ واشتكِ جَزَعاً
لعلَّperhaps مولاكَyour Lord أنthat يرىmay see جزعَكyour anguish
لعلَّ مولاكَ أن يرى جزعَك
And pray against separation, and complain in anguish.
And lament the separation, complain ardently
Perhaps your Lord will see your anguish.
Perhaps your Master will see your agony
واحسنand improve يقيناًcertainty موثقاًmaking firm أملاًhope
واحسن يقيناً موثقاً أملاً
والقربُand nearness والبعدُand distance نحِّهاset it aside طمَعَكyour longing
والقربُ والبعدُ نحِّها طمَعَك
And strengthen your certainty, making your hope firm.
And nourish unwavering, certain hope
And put aside your longing for nearness and distance.
For nearness and distance are governed by your longing
