    Sleep bids my eye farewell,

As though its lodging there were forbidden.

O taste of slumber, dwell in bliss

In the eye of one who sleeps, while I do not sleep.

O you whose eye's glance is languid,

And in it lies sickness for the healthy,

Do you test those who gaze ahead,

While you are the guide of their eyes' gaze?
