يا تاركَ الجِسمِ بلا قلبِ
إنif كنتُI was أهواكَI love you فَماthen what ذنبيmy fault
إن كنتُ أهواكَ فَما ذنبي
O you who leave the body without a heart,
O you who left my body without a heart
If I love you, what is my fault?
If I loved you, how is that my sin?
ياO مُفرداًone unmatched بالحسنِin beauty أفردتَنيyou left me alone
يا مُفرداً بالحسنِ أفردتَني
منكَapart from you بطولِwith the length of الشوقِlonging والحبِّand love
منكَ بطولِ الشوقِ والحبِّ
O you unmatched in beauty, you have left me alone,
O you who in beauty singled me out
Apart from you, with prolonged longing and love.
You distanced me with longing and love
إنif تكُbe عَينيmy eye أبصرَتbeheld فتنةًa temptation
إن تكُ عَيني أبصرَت فتنةً
فهَلthen is there علىagainst قلبيmy heart منany عَتبِblame
فهَل على قلبي من عَتبِ
If my eye has beheld a temptation,
If my eyes saw temptation
Then is my heart at all to blame?
Then what fault lies with my heart?
حَسيبُكyour reckoner اللَهُGod لماfor what بيafflicts me كماjust as
حَسيبُك اللَهُ لما بي كما
إنّكَindeed you فيin فِعلِكَyour action بيto me حسبيenough for me
إنّكَ في فِعلِكَ بي حسبي
God is your judge for what I suffer, just as
May God be your judge for what you did to me
You, in your treatment of me, are enough for me.
For your actions toward me are enough
