كف بينَ الكَرى وبينَ الجفونِ
O sorrowful one who wept for one without sorrow,
O you who weep for one not sad,
he held slumber back from the eyelids.
Stop between the people and your eyelids.

وَكل القلبَ هجرُهُ بالحنينِ
Does he see him or not, just as he does not see the one
Does he see you or not, as one does not see
whose abandonment has charged the heart with longing?
A heart that abandoned him in yearning?

Indeed, amid the entrails are passion and longing,
Between my guts is indeed agony and longing
both mingled there with a hidden malady.
Mixed within a latent malady.

تسهرُ الليلَ عند نومِ العيونِ
It is enough for him who sleeps that my tearful eye
It suffices one who sleeps that my teary eyes
keeps vigil all night while other eyes sleep.
Stay awake at night when eyes sleep.
