My sight did not drink its fill of the water of his face,

Nor did my gaze pluck the rose of his cheek.

Nor did I delight in his charms

Since I came under his sway, out of fear.

He who shone before the sun as it rose, like

The sun among the stars and the moon.

I parted from the world's beauty and its splendor

The moment I parted from the fairest of humankind.
