نامَslept عُذاليmy reproachers وَلمand did not أنمِsleep
نامَ عُذالي وَلم أنمِ
واشتفَىand found satisfaction الواشونَthe slanderers منfrom سَقميmy sickness
واشتفَى الواشونَ من سَقمي
My reproachers slept, but I did not sleep.
My tormentors blamed me though I was blameless
And the slanderers found satisfaction in my sickness.
And those who reproached me were healed of their own illness.
وإذاand whenever ماfor emphasis قلتُI say بيin me ألمٌpain
وإذا ما قلتُ بي ألمٌ
شكَّdoubts مَنthe one whom أهواهُI love him فيin ألميmy pain
شكَّ مَن أهواهُ في ألمي
And whenever I say, 'I am in pain,'
When I complain of pain within me,
The one I love doubts my pain.
My beloved doubts the truth of my agony.
