ليلي طويلٌ وحزني مثلهُ وكذا

ليلي طويلٌ وحزني مثلهُ وكذا

ليلُ المُحبِّ طويلٌ حيثُما كانا

ليلُ المُحبِّ طويلٌ حيثُما كانا

My night is long, and my grief is just as long; likewise,

The night is long, and so is my sorrow

the lover’s night is long, wherever he may be.

And so is the night of lovers, wherever they are

لم أسل بعدهُمُ يَوماً وقَد حمَلَت

لم أسل بعدهُمُ يَوماً وقَد حمَلَت

نفسِي من الوَجدِ والأحزانِ ألوانا

نفسِي من الوَجدِ والأحزانِ ألوانا

Not a day have I found solace after them, and indeed

I have not found tranquility since their loss

my soul has borne many shades of longing and sorrow.

My soul carries various shades of passion and grief
