My eye beheld two sights in him, just as it beheld

The sun and the radiant full moon upon the earth.

At evening he greeted me with roses, as though they were

Cheeks joined together, some to others.

And he shared a cup with me, whose nectar seemed like

My tears, when my slumber turned away from me—from my eye.

And he turned away; drunkenness's effect upon his movements,

From wine, was like the wind's effect upon a tender bough.
