لا عَدِمتَ الكَرى فإنَّ جفوني

لا تذوقُ الكَرى لِصدّكَ عني
May you never lack sleep, for my eyelids
Even if you are not around, my eyelids
taste no sleep because you turn away from me.
Will not taste sleepiness because you distance yourself from me
تتجنَّىaccuses unjustly عينيmy eye عليَّagainst me كثيراًoften
تتجنَّى عيني عليَّ كثيراً
كلُّهاall of it فيكَon your account مُذsince ألِفتَyou became accustomed to التجنيunjust reproach
كلُّها فيكَ مُذ ألِفتَ التجني
My eye often accuses me unjustly,
My eyes keep shedding tears over me
wholly on your account, since you took to unjust reproach.
All because of you ever since you got accustomed to being away
باشتِياقيby my longing إليكَfor you ياO أحسنَmost beautiful العاthe wor- (beginning of 'the world')
باشتِياقي إليكَ يا أحسنَ العا
لم-ld (completion of 'world') وَجهاًin countenance لاdo not تجفونbetray حسنَgoodness of ظنِّيmy opinion
لم وَجهاً لا تجفون حسنَ ظنِّي
By my longing for you, O fairest in the
Yearning for you, O most beautiful of mankind
world in countenance, do not betray my trust.
Why the face that does not reject my good thoughts?

Who do I have if it is not you, and to whom
shall I complain of my anguish and the intensity of my sorrow?
